Day at the Park

Summer break is off and running! We spent two hours at the park this morning, and Emily had a blast swinging, sliding, climbing, and most of all laughing!
Swinging girl
Other fun activities today were blowing bubbles outside after nap time, as well as having lots of fun with sidewalk chalk on the back patio. We practiced more cutting and name writing. Right now Emily is practicing tracing over her name written correctly with a crayon. She was so proud of the two sheets of tracing she did, she put one for mommy on our fridge and saved one for Auntie JuJu.

Emily enjoys the park so very much that it is my hope I can get her a swing set this summer for our backyard. She will be out there everyday if I can get it done.

Enjoy the pictures from the park!

First Day of Summer Vacation

Emily's cutting, gluing, and name writing
Well, today Emily and Mommy spent the entire day at home playing together. It was a great day over all! We began our day with some Nick Jr. in Mommy's bed. Emily loves to watch the "Baby PB" aka little TV in Mommy's bedroom in the mornings.
We had a fun breakfast together, and then moved on to some fun cutting and gluing practice. After that, we did lots of puzzles together. Puzzles on the alphabet, colors, a school bus, and numbers. Following the puzzle fun we played with magnet letters, and then lots and lots of beads. This is when Grandpa came over for a surprise visit. Emily LOVES her Grandpa and they had fun together.

After Grandpa left it was nail painting time. Emily picked green and purple for her toes. The girl knows what she likes! Too cute!

The rest of our day was filled with coloring, practicing writing Emily's name, taking naps, playing kitchen, playing dress-up, and listening to a lot of fun music.

Enjoy our photos from day one of summer break!

Kathy

A fun day was had by all today! We started out our adventure with grandpa, grandma, and Makena coming to our house so Emily could give grandpa his gift and card. He LOVED his new mouse pad with a picture of him and Emily in Hawaii. He also got a kick out of the picture she painted for him. We all then headed over to the zoo. It couldn't have been any better weather for picture taking and for all of the animals to be doing their thing. Not too cold, just a bit overcast, was perfect for the day.  We all had a great time, especially Emily. What a difference a year makes. We did this same outing last Father's Day, and she was scared of just about every animal. Today she was very interested in each and every animal, and seemed to be genuinely excited to see them all. After a great day at the zoo, we headed to PF Chang's Chinese restaurant for a lovely and oh so yummy lunch! We all had a wonderful day and I wish all of the dads, uncles, and grandpas out there a Happy Father's Day! Enjoy the pictures!

Fun Friend Birthday Party

Kira, Emily, and Kayla

Dream BIG Kayla Gui

Hope all of your wishes come true Kira Mei

Emily LOVED being part of the group!

I have to start out by complimenting the wee one! She has had her issues lately, and I must admit I wasn't sure how she would do at a party for twin 8 year olds with 20 children running around, but...SHE DID GREAT!! She was outstanding! My dear, sweet girl only had to be reminded two times in a three hour period of what was expected of her! Way to go EMILY!!!

We went to our friends, Kira and Kayla's, 8th birthday celebration Hawaiian Style!  It was great!  They had grass skirts, leis, games, prizes, two pinatas, limbo, The Chicken Dance, an egg race, the mummy game, plus lots of food, candy, and two cakes! WOW!!

Everyone loved Emily, (many students from my school at the party), and Emily thought it was funny that there were four Emily's at the party!

Emily enjoyed all of it! She participated in all of the party games, from walking with a hard boiled egg on a spoon race, to the Chicken Dance Freeze game, to the limbo, and the best game of all, the mummy game. Emily let Mommy and Auntie JuJu wrap her completely like a mummy, as did all the other teams of three, and then the twins' dad was the judge. He narrowed it down to four mummies and then the kids all clapped for their favorite. Emily and another boy Dylan WON!!! She was so excited! It was so cute! She had a blast sharing popcorn with Tom (Kira/Kayla's dad), watching the girls open gifts for a long time, having a turn hitting the pinata, getting candy, and having cake. She was even able to leave the party without ANY problems...said goodbye, gave kisses/hugs, and seemed to be OK with leaving after a three hour party on only a 20 minute nap in the car on the way to the party!

Overall...I would say she did absolutely MARVELOUS!! I am so proud of her!

Enjoy the pictures! More to come tomorrow; Father's Day with Grandpa!

Love,
Kathy

Random thoughts and photo update...

Emily and Kylie at Kylie's graduation party
Oh my goodness...so sorry for the lack of updates on Emily and I. As some of you know, life as a teacher at the end of the year is SO BUSY!!! Report cards, packing up the room, end of the year testing, talent shows, assemblies, field days, picnics, lots of meetings, etc.  Emily has been busy as well; she has had her bangs cut again, been to another speech therapy appointment (1 1/2 hours long), been working on her behavior choices at home and school, talking more and more, going to her friend Kylie's graduation party, getting invited to her first friend birthday party, and the most important item on Miss Emily's agenda, how many times can she watch Cinderella???  Each time we watch this classic, she wants to know, "Mommy, where my prince?" Mommy's answer is usually, "I don't know babe, where is mommy's prince?"  She then usually replies, "On the PB" aka TV. So I guess what I am trying to say is...Emily and Mommy are waiting for our  Prince Charming!!!

I am including some random photos from the past two weeks. I am sure you will all enjoy seeing the little beauty in her cuteness.

I'm sure we'll have lots more photos after this Sunday when we enjoy the day with my dad, Emily's Grandpa! The Portland Zoo and PF Chang's here we come!

Kathy
