Emily's 4th of July Photo Shoot with Mommy

July 4th 2013
Well, Emily and I had our annual 4th of July photo shoot! Every year that she has been home from China, I have taken her pictures in some sort of cute red, white, and blue attire. Year one, a white tank top and red, white, and blue Tutu, year two white shorts with blue stars, and red shirt, last year was white leggings and red and white striped shirt with blue flower, and this year, denim shorts with red stripes and a white tank top. The past three years I just draped a white sheet for our background, but this year we went to a close park in town that has walking/bike riding trails, and many water features. Each year I have given her the American flag to pose with, and each year she has gotten more and more into it. This year she did all of her own poses. I didn't give her any of the ideas and she told me when she was ready for the picture! Too cute! As you can see she is getting so big and growing into such a little lady right before my very eyes!
Happy 4th everyone!

Seaside, OR with Grandpa and Grandma

Fun with Grandpa!!!
Last Saturday, June 29th, Emily went on her first day trip with Grandpa and Grandma to Seaside, OR. I dropped her off with all of her paraphernalia at 8:30 a.m., and they had her back around 8:30 p.m.
From what I heard from all parties involved, a GRAND time was had by all! According to Grandpa and Grandma, Emily did wonderfully well in the car and at the beach.
She got to play in the sand and the ocean water up close to the beach for hours. I believe Grandma said for about four hours straight. She got to ride the carousel and the Tilt-a-Whirl with Grandpa since Grandma got a little queasy from too much spinning. They got to go out to dinner and have yummy clam chowder and have just a fabulous time.
I must admit that at first I was nervous since this is the longest and farthest she has been away from me EVER, but they all had such a good time, and I was more relaxed as the day went on. I am sure now that another day trip will soon be in Miss Emily's future with Grandpa and Grandma. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for taking a few pictures while you were having so much fun!
Emily LOVES her grandparents!!!
Enjoy the pictures!
Warmly,
Kathy

Spring Recital 2013

Beautiful Ballerina
This past Saturday Emily had her spring dance recital. She performed in the mini version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. She did a fabulous job in both her tap and ballet routines. She was a little nervous at first, but once she got up on stage she did a great job, just like I knew she could! She was a lucky girl who had 15 family members come to watch her performance and support her with positive thoughts.

She looked so beautiful in her costumes for both numbers. I think she had fun and was glad she had the opportunity to perform. My girl really does love to dance!

I was one proud mommy, and loved every minute of her dance! Thank you everyone who was able to make it to her show! She loves all of you as do I. Thanks for always supporting my girl!
Love,
Kathy

Father's Day 2013

Grandpa and Emily - Happy Father's Day
Well, today was our fourth annual Father's Day fun with mommy, Emily, JuJu, grandpa and grandma! We met at the zoo at 9:30 a.m. and headed on in to see all of the wonderful creatures that there was to see. We had our own personal tour guide, as Emily had the map, and was all set to point us all in the right direction!! :-)

We had a great time seeing the polar bears, the orangutans, birds of prey show, lions, giraffes, and of course the elephants, including baby Lily! Oh, that darling baby elephant is precious!

Probably one of the highlights of Emily's day was riding the zoo train to the Washington Park rose garden and back again, a 25 minute ride round trip! Of course, she got a new stuffed elephant and name key chain in the gift shop too! Then we were off to PF Chang's like we do each year for Father's Day.

We all enjoyed some delicious food, wonderful time with family, and we all loved every minute of it! Grandpa loved his new personalized cooking spatula for his bar-b-que. It is a nice stainless steel one that says #1 Grandpa and also his name on the nice wooden handle.

What a great day, and Emily did a marvelous job walking for 3 1/2 hours...her first zoo trip without a stroller...and was in bed ready for school tomorrow by 7:00 p.m.

Enjoy the fantastic pictures from today, some great animal shots, but most of all some awesome shots of Emily and her grandpa!

Love,
Kathy
