St. Patrick's Day 2014

Well, that silly leprechaun visited our house again this year! This time he left green sparkly shamrocks all over Emily's bedroom, wrapped all around the dining room chairs, and a note to Emily about where to find her pot of gold! He also left behind his wee tiny hat that Emily just had to try on before heading off to school that day!
Enjoy,
Kathy

Grandparent's Day 2014 King's Way Christian School

Since Grandpa and Grandma were in Palm Springs for Grandparent's Day this year, Emily was lucky enough to have JuJu attend with "Grandma" Becki from church.

They got to see Emily's classroom, art work she had done, go to an assembly in the sanctuary, and listen to the teacher, Mrs. Fix, share stories the kids had written.

Just a couple pictures from that special day!

Valentine's Day 2014

Dear Friends and Family,

My oh my has it been a long time since my last post.  Life just seems to happen believe it or not! We have had many special occasions since our big snow event!
I will begin with Valentine's Day and go from there.
Emily had a very fun day at school with her friends in Kindergarten and exchanging cards. That evening she got her Valentines from Mommy and Auntie JuJu!
Love filled the air that day, as it does every day!! :-)

Snowmaggedon...

Emily and one of her snowpeople...
We are currently on day four of SNOW................Can anyone say cabin fever??
After being sent home 2 hours early last Thursday, we have been home. Although we think the snow is beautiful to look at, now that there is ice on top of it, we wish it would all just go away. We want to get back to normal!!

We have had LOADS of fun though, don't get me wrong. Emily has had a great time each day we have been stuck at home playing outside...that is until today. Now it is not fluffy and soft, but hard and crunchy snow topped with ice! Yeesh!

We have played games, watched lots of movies, baked some REALLY good oatmeal raisin cookies, played inside with toys, played outside in the snow, did our taxes, and worked on Emily's homework assignment...decorating her Valentine box for school.

Enjoy the great photos from the past few days! Hope you all have stayed safe and off the roads!
Love,
Kathy

Gung Hay Fat Choy 2014 Year of the Horse

Sweet Girl
We had a fabulous weekend celebrating Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse, with some of our dear friends. Michele and her husband Tom, have two daughters from China, Kayla and Kira, and we love spending time with them, but especially on CNY.

We met them downtown Portland to attend the Chinese New Year Cultural Fair at the Convention Center, and after that we headed to Chinatown to do some shopping and then out to a very tasty Chinese dinner. The restaurant reminded us all of being in Guangzhou. It was great...the girls all so beautiful in their darling dresses, all of us laughing, visiting, eating, and just celebrating being together and our daughters' heritage!

Emily helped decorate our house in the afternoon before we headed to meet our friends. She did very well, and had an opinion about where everything should go.

She wore her purple dress from last year, that still fit, but we did buy her a new blue dress...as many of you all know her FAVORITE color!! It is gorgeous, and she wore it to church today!

Thank you Michele and girls for spending Chinese New Year with us. We love you all!!!
Love,
Kathy

P.S.  Way to go Seahawks!
