Pretty girl on Palm Sunday
I know it has been a while since my last post, but we were having a blast enjoying the Oregon coast in Seaside! We left last Sunday after church and the egg hunt on Palm Sunday. Auntie JuJu, Emily, and myself had a fun four days at the beach in what was supposed to be rainy weather every day. Yes...I said supposed to be rainy. But as luck would have it, we had just a little bit of rain while there, and a TON of rain on the trips down and back. We even had snow on the trip down and also on the way back.  Yes, I said SNOW in April!!! Actually on the way down to the coast on April 1, we had quite a bit of snow on the tree tops, ground, and falling from the sky. Emily was VERY excited, but was even more happy to see the beach once we arrived!

Emily had the time of her life in the sand with her buckets, shovels, castle and animal molds, and of course, doing the Schroeder tradition that Grandpa taught her, burying her feet in the sand! Except for the high winds on that first day making it feel cold, it was actually not that cold. Emily loved the carousel they have at Seaside and was able to go on it six times in the four days we were there. Her new favorite character to ride on this carousel was the deer...like Bambi. She did have to ride something different a couple times due to the deer being taken. Mommy was so glad we had had that talk about what to do if that happened. She reacted like a trooper and chose another animal to ride. Way to go babe!

Emily also got to do what every child does at the beach...put a penny in the machine and watch it be flattened and come out with a picture of a seal, and another one with a picture of a sand castle on it. She was fascinated by this and had fun turning the crank herself!

We had a blast at the Seaside Aquarium. Emily held, and threw to the seals, five containers of cut up raw fish. You heard me correctly...raw cut up fish, eyes still there and everything. She LOVED it, as did the seals who got LOTS to eat from Miss Emily!

Our Inn where we were staying also had a pool so Miss Emily got to go swimming all by herself...with her life jacket of course. She had a magnificent time swimming without any help from Mommy. Mommy just had to be in the pool, to redirect her from running into other people. She had a blast jumping off the side of the pool into the deep end, and can't wait for more lessons this summer with her "teacher" as she refers to her swim teacher from last summer.

Mommy and JuJu also got in a bit of shopping, and we all had an ice cream cone, lunch out, dinner out with Emily having her first soup bread bowl, and lots of fun! Another first Emily took part in was going to the arcade to play games, get tokens, get tickets, and picking out prizes with her tickets. Of course, she picked out candy. She had her first candy bracelet and necklace, which she thought was pretty cool!

At one point, Mommy and Emily even got to run in the ocean water right at the edge with the tide coming in. We would wait for it, then when it got close, we would run away from it and LAUGH, but a couple times it got us, shoes, pants, and all! FUN MEMORIES!

Overall, we all had a fun time, and Emily has a fresh batch of new memories to recall whenever she chooses!

I have so many good pictures. When I uploaded them, it put them all above my post and I can't figure out how to move them so, enjoy seeing the joy on the wee one's face, and then have fun reading about our adventures!
Love,
Kathy
