Little Ladybug's Journey: Fit 'n Fun at First

Today after Emily had her regular swimming lesson, we got to participate in the Fit 'n Fun at First at our church. It was a 5K walk/run for adults/kids, a 1K run for the younger kiddos, carnival games that all had something to do with fitness, a bouncy house, a bouncy obstacle course, healthy snacks, prizes, and best of all...wait for it...the Vancouver Police K-9 unit with two officers and two of their very BEAUTIFUL German Shepherd K-9s!!! This was a highlight of the event and of the day! Emily did GREAT in the 1K race which is a half mile. She ran all but about two blocks, and mommy kept up with her, as parents had to go with their kiddos who were on the younger side, as a few streets had to be crossed. Our church did a FABULOUS job and had volunteers at each corner on the course to help guide the kids! It was fun! Emily LOVED it!

After coming back from the race, she got to eat an after race snack, try some of the games, get some prizes, play in the bouncy house, and hold our friends Rachel and Rebecca's dogs while waiting for the K-9s.

It was very interesting listening to the officers talk about the dogs. The younger of the two dogs, Ory, was put back in his patrol car, as he is still young, just two years old, and not yet ready to be petted by a huge crowd. Then, we all got to line up to pet Eron, the older of the two at five years old. Let's just say mommy and Emily were in HEAVEN, as Emily will tell anyone she meets that when she is eight we are getting a German Shepherd!!

She had some more fun with the games, and snacks, and activities, and then had a hot dog and watermelon for lunch, before we headed home. Needless to say that, after her swimming lesson and this event, she took a GREAT nap today! Enjoy the pictures! It was a super day!
