Trunk or Treat 2012

Sweet Princess Ariel...notice the rain boots
Today in the pouring down rain, we headed back to church for the annual Trunk or Treat. For those of you who don't know what that is, I will try to give a quick explanation. People volunteer to decorate the trunk of their car, some have games to play for prizes, and of course candy is passed out to all the wee trick- or -treaters. It is a WONDERFUL way to get the community together, and also for people who may be interested in our church to gather and see what a wonderful church family we all are!!

There was free popcorn, free chili and chips in a bag, a huge bounce house (inside thank goodness), and MANY cars to get treats from. The local fire department was also on hand passing out bags with goodies as well. Also, when we came upon the last car on the second side of the church, we were told to go across the street to the retirement home. Well, they also had about seven people passing our candy from their wheelchairs! Very sweet!

So, even in this terrible rain, Miss Emily had fun seeing her friends, and of course getting CANDY!! Everyone thought she was dressed as a darling ladybug since her Ariel costume was covered by her raincoat and umbrella! Very funny!

Enjoy! More to come after the 31st. She has a party at school, trick-or-treating at JuJu's office and then at night with Belen! WOW!!!

Love,
Kathy

Pumpkin Time

Emily and her Pre-K class
Emily had her school field trip this week, and since mommy had parent/teacher conferences, Auntie JuJu got to go along. It was muddy from all the previous days of rain, but I heard from JuJu and Emily that it didn't actually rain the entire time they were at the Pumpkin Patch!

Fun was had by all, and Auntie JuJu was exhausted afterwards, but loved every minute of getting to go with Miss Emily on a school trip! Mommy got to go last year to the P-Patch with Emily's class, so it was JuJu's turn!

They got to do the hay bale maze, see and feed animals, climb the hay bale pyramid, ride the hay ride out to the patch, pick their own pumpkin, and then wash their own pumpkin. Also, one of the highlights of Emily's day was of course riding on the school van with her class and all of them in their car seats from their parent's cars!

After I got home from conferences, we all had dinner and then did our annual pumpkin carving! It was a tad challenging since the pumpkin Emily picked was not the biggest, but it is a perfectly shaped small one and it turned out darling!

Enjoy! I am sure there will be more pictures to come this weekend after Trunk or Treat at church!
Love,
Kathy

Emily's Birthday Party

Pretty in Red is right!!
Yesterday was Emily's 6th birthday party with her closest friends. She made the guest list herself a few weeks ago, and all of the friends that she invited were able to make it! Fun was most certainly had by all, little ones and adults alike.

Her theme was Olivia the Pig from the books and TV show Olivia. Emily loves these books, as well as having over 40 episodes saved on our DVR to watch! She thinks Olivia has a great imagination and she adores Olivia's baby brother William. For those of you that don't know or have never seen the show, Olivia LOVES the color red, so we went with that for the party theme as well. Olivia the Pig always wears red and white striped tights, so you will notice Emily's outfit!! TOO CUTE! Also, Olivia always has a "Rule of Life" to quote on each episode, so we had to have a few at the party!

All of the kids played in Emily's play room while we waited for all the guests to arrive. So much fun, laughter, giggles, hugs, and kisses were happening, it was a glorious sight. As soon as everyone arrived, the PARTY got under way!

All of Emily's friends had a great time painting their own piggy banks, and also receiving six cents in their new banks in honor of Emily's 6th birthday! After they all painted, Emily enjoyed opening her gifts and loved all of them. When present time was over, it was time for each guest and Emily to decorate their own individual cakes. We had frosting, sprinkles, candy, etc. As usual, eyes were bigger than their wee tummies, but they had fun decorating their own cakes.

All during the party, the guests (parents and kiddos) were able to help themselves to the different kinds of RED candy all around the house, to help themselves to red fruit punch or to Emily's special birthday bottled water (see pictures)...THANK YOU Janet for the COOL labels!

After cake and singing Happy Birthday, the parents all visited while the kids just had fun playing in Emily's play room, as you will be able to see in the photos.

As each party guest was leaving, Emily used her words to say "Thank you for coming to my party" and gave them each their party goodies, of course all RED items in a RED tub! After all the partying was over and JuJu and Mommy had cleaned up, it was time to relax and watch a movie. The day finally caught up to Miss Emily as she crawled inside her Princess sleeping bag and fell asleep on the floor.

All in all it was a splendid party that was a huge success, and Emily LOVES having her friends come over and play! Thank you to all who helped her to have a GRAND 6th birthday party!

I have also included a few pictures from the day before her party with her friend Kylie and Grandma Judi and their gifts as well!

Enjoy,
Kathy
