WOW...I just looked and I haven't posted anything since the middle of November! Man oh man, December is one busy month in this house. Between working up until the 20th and doing all of the festivities, it was hardly possible to keep up with my blog. SO here goes...you will get the run down for the entire month of December in one full swoop! :-)
We started out the month with getting our decorations out and Emily doing the annual decorating of her own little tree. She loves this each year, and takes care when putting the ornaments on her tree. She also loves arranging all of her stuffies around the base of her tree.

During December, Emily also had her individual and group photos for dance, as well as her big rehearsal, and her big recital. She did WONDERFUL this year; so much more mature than last year. Her whole group was the best in the show! Way to go babe! Her purple costume was so beautiful, and we were all so proud of her dancing!!

We had a fantastic time at zoo lights with our dear friend Joanie. We had a lovely dinner and a great time looking at the wonderful lights at the Portland Zoo. It was freezing cold that night, BUT no rain so it seemed everyone from Washington and Oregon were there all on the same night...

Emily chose this year to do a Gingerbread Train instead of her usual Gingerbread House. She did a super job and had a fun time doing her train. It turned out marvelous! We think no matter how she puts the candy on, it always turns out terrific!

We had a fun time with the Hochhalter family on the 22nd and enjoyed opening gifts and spending time with Auntie Heidi, Kylie, Grandma Judi, and Grandpa Mel. We love them so much!

On the 23rd we celebrated Christmas with the Kingsella family. This is our day to celebrate the season with the ones we love, and we look forward to it every year! We gather together to decorate cookies for Santa, enjoy a nice dinner, and exchange packages! The girls, Emily and Belen, LOVE each other and always have such a good time with each other. We love you Titi, Uncle Larry, and Belen! We sure missed Miya this year. We were sad she had to work! We love you too Miya Bee!

Christmas Eve was a nice relaxing day spent at home, except for a quick trip to the Dr.'s office for Miss Emily. She was complaining of her ear hurting, so with the cold she has, we were worried about an ear infection. So off we went on Christmas Eve to the clinic. What we found out is, yes, her ear hurt as she has swimmer's ear. So now today, we are on our last day of drops in the ear. She has been a real trooper doing the drops three times a day for five days.

Christmas Eve night we went to church, and Emily had fun singing with the Children's Choir on the fun song "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." After a very nice church service, we came back home and had our usual Christmas Eve dinner of Papa Murphy's pizza. After dinner Emily wrote her note to Santa to go with the cookies, sprinkled Christmas dust on the front lawn to help them find our house, and then Julyn read the Christmas story of Jesus' birth from Emily's Bible.

Then it was off to bed for the wee one with much anticipation for the big guy's visit!

Christmas morning was SO GREAT!! Emily's reactions to everything were better than expected! She loved all of her gifts and especially what Santa brought her...Daisy the cat toy, her purple amulet like Princess Sophia, her real china tea set, her new tablet, and her Rapunzel styling head. She was also very excited to try riding her new Tinker Bell bike from Grandpa and Grandma...with no training wheels.

We have had such a busy month, and just now it is my 46th birthday. Emily and Julyn gave me wonderful gifts and cards, and now are baking me tiny cookies in Emily's new Easy Bake Oven. Oh boy, I can't wait!! Then we will be off to a birthday lunch for me, Julyn, and our step mom Sandy.

We hope you all have a fabulous 2014!
Love,
Kathy
