Emily and mommy at mommy's work |
Today was Emily's 5th birthday, and she had quite the day filled with lots of fun and different activities! The day began with mommy surprising Emily with her birthday card and a new Kai Lan board game. Then it was off to school where JuJu was going to bring treats later in the morning.
JuJu arrived at Emily's school in time to see a science lesson on pumpkins, a circle time lesson on different body parts and how they move, music time, and then helped Emily with her treats. She took Capri Suns, sugar snap peas, grapes, and raisins. JuJu said that the kids liked Emily's treats, and Emily was very loving towards her friends.
After birthday time at her school, Auntie JuJu brought Miss Em to mommy's work. She enjoyed seeing all the kids in mommy's class and walking in line with them to the lunch room. She got to have hot lunch with mommy and JuJu and then visit with some of mommy's co-workers. She even got to participate in quiet reading after the kids came in from recess. She was a bit upset that she couldn't go to art class with mommy's second graders, and cried when it was time to leave and go home. JuJu said she cried for part of the way home but then fell asleep in the car.
When mommy got home from work we headed to Red Robin for dinner. When Emily had been there in the past, she noticed that people got balloons on their ears, and she wanted that.
She tried her first appetizers of cheese sticks (and LOVED them), had a corn dog and some fries, a strawberry smoothie, AND a birthday sundae! Yes, she ate A LOT!! We heard all about it on the way home when we had to pull over to help her unzip and unbutton her pants. An audible sigh was heard throughout the car after this task was complete! AHHH!!
After we got back home, she received a Red Envelope from mommy and JuJu with money to put in her new doggy bank! She then got into her pink pig zipper PJ's and crawled in her sleeping bag to watch Clifford. A GREAT day for the big girl!
As I sit here and type about her day, I can't help but think of her birthmother in China. There must be a woman in China who can't help but think of the daughter she gave birth to and loved enough to let go in order for that girl to have a better life! We will never forget her and always think of her on special days like today. If it hadn't been for the love she felt for her daughter, I wouldn't have been blessed to be Emily's mommy! I love this girl more than life itself, and everyday I thank the Lord our God for bringing her into my life! She lights up my world, and she is truly coming into her own and has the funniest sense of humor! She cracks us up daily, and warms my heart with her loving, generous spirit!
In her classroom they have been working on listening and obeying the first time. So tonight she listened and was obeying mommy the first time after being asked when it was time to clean up. I told her that her teachers would be so proud of her just like mommy was proud of her. She then said, "Mommy, Miss Laurel, Miss Crista be so happy." I then said they would be so happy. Then Emily replied with, "I obey for Jesus mommy." Now is that the sweetest thing you have heard all day??
Enjoy the pictures!
Love,
Kathy
